A sense of odd familiarity surrounded Skuld as she entered the opening gate to the schoolgrounds. There was a certain harsh calm about the place that could only be defined and understood by the men and women who found themselves seeking refuge in its care, and though she had never been here, she felt as though she had never left.
Even without the sight of people, she knew the place was inhabited. There were small signs. The footprints on the ground, the small pieces of litter blowing in the soft wind. There were windows open in the building, and the nearly inaudible sound of conversations. She wondered if all of these people knew each other. If they were all returning students. It was almost enough to force her back to her hermit-like life, until she remembered, with a shudder, the dreams, no, nightmares that had haunted her of late. She had no choice. She had to continue.
She could only hope that she would be able to tolerate the people her. For her sake as well as their own.
With one final step, she was in her new home, and at first glance, she was sure, it was nothing like what she imagined or anticipated at all.

The teaching position that had been offered to her was one that she was excited, but nervous, for. Knowing that the lives would be changed because of the words that she would speak was an intimindating sort of ordeal. One that she had to force herself to be ready for.
The small bag she carried on her shoulder contained very little in the way of clothing. She could always do laundry, but it was the information of her life that she carried with her. Notes, essays, pictures, memories. It was everything that would help her help these students in their quest for knowledge. She only hoped that it would turn out as well as it looked in her minds eye.
Now...all she needed to do was find someone to help her find her way to her office, or classroom, or room. Oh, she was so confused.

Dr. Sam king walked down the main grand staircase that was situated on the far side of the main lobby opposite the front doors.
As he stepped onto the marble floor of the lobby he saw a woman stadning by the reception desk looking lost and confused.
"Hello. My name is Sam King I ma one of the Headmasters here. I take it you are Skuld, our new teacher." he smiled and walked behind the desk where he logged into the computer.
A few seconds later he knew where to take the Witch and walked back from around the counter.
"Would you like any help carrying those bags? Oh and if you would please follow me."

"Hello. My name is Sam King I am one of the Headmasters here. I take it you are Skuld, our new teacher."
"Yes, I am," she responded quickly. "I, uh, I just don't know where to go. I made it here alright, but I'm not sure if I should go to, oh I don't know."
She laughed a little.
"I am so lost," she told him. "I have no idea what I'm doing."
He nodded slightly and rounded the desk and reached for the keyboard resting there. His blue eyes scanned the monitor drinking in the information it awared him. It only took a few moments, and he came back.
"Would you like any help carrying those bags? Oh and if you would please follow me."
"Right, right, of course," she answered. "I, I can carry this. So lead on."
As she took up the rear, she smiled at Dr. Samuel's back as he led the way.

Sam walked up the grand staircase and made a left. This lead to the teachers rooms.
He lead Skuld along a corridor, made a sharp right and then climbed down a small set of stairs. He then stopped at a door.
"Here you are Skuld." he took out a keycard and swiped it over an electronic eye. The heavy wooden door then opened and he held it open for the new teacher.
The inside of the room was more like a suite. There was a living room, bedroom, bathroom and an office. The rooms were all decorated in bright, airy colours.
Sam handed Skuld the keycard. "There are only two cards that can get into this room. That one and the two Master's. One is kept locked in the Staff Room and the Caretaker has the other. Dinner is at Eight."
He saw the expression on Skuld's face.
"Here." he pointed to a screen on the wall, "is the Institutes computet system. You can access any amount of information on here. But the main point for you at the moemnt will be this."
He pressed a button on the screen and a 3D map of the entire Institute popped up.
"For finding your way around." he smiled. "I hope you will enjoy working here. Don't forget Miss Skuld, dinner is at Eight."
With the smile still on his face he closed the door and headed back to the reception.
He had a feeling more people might need a guide around the huge mansion.

Thanking the headmaster as he exited the entryway, Skuld turned to her new room. The colors were less than what she expected and nothing near what she wanted. She considered asking to change them, but instead figured it was her space, and she could always change it back for them. Raising her left hand a rush of power ran through her.
The walls seemed to melt around her, shifting colors and shape. Crimson covered the once brightly colored space. The furniture's fabric color became a raven black, and all of the lights dimmed. It seemed that this would be the home of a stereotypical evil antagonist, but she knew that these colors cooled her soul. Smiling slightly she took a seat in a chair in front of the screen the Headmaster had shown her.
She would need to know her way around this school. Glancing at her cell phone, she noticed she was running out of time.
"Dinner is at eight," she muttered to herself. "I best get ready."
Flipping on the screen, she started to organize her small amount of belongings.

The building was about as complex as she had anticipated. Though she would only have to frequent a few places. Unless they had some sort of teacher monitoring system throughout the nights. Either way, she would be able to master this in a short amount of time.
The screen also revealed much more information about what the next months would hold for her. There were lists of students her in classes, a basic schedule, and other such useful information. There was some other things like important dates, including finals and mid-terms.
She still was not sure whether this school would celebrate the Judeo-Christian holidays or that of the Pagans, but she knew which ones her religion and magic demanded. And whether or not the school celebrated, she hoped that they would understand what she would have to do when those days came up.
Standing up and moving away from her seat, she moved to the wardrobe. When she opened it something like a uniform faced her. Something she would never force herself to wear. If they mind...well...but the Headmaster's smile echoed in her mind made her feel safe. It wouldn't be a big deal, she was nearly positive.
"Dinner," she reminded herself. Grabbing her keycard, she exited the room, and let the heavy wooden door shut behind her.
"Left, left," she whispered, "or what it right? d**n...Well, let's see how well I remember."

Before today, Jenny Mcdonald had only known the Institute second-hand, through words and pictures given her by others. And, to be frank, that was not nearly enough to prepare her for the whole impressive, sprawling, baffling extent of the house and grounds that made up Chimera's Institute.
Up ahead was a woman who looked almost as lost as Jenny. The little redhead sprinted up to her, and said: "Hi, I don't know where I am. But then, I don't know where I'm meant to be, either, so they kind of cancel each other out. So... where are you going?"
There is a theory that Jenny thinks up these witticisms beforehand, and keeps them stored in her brain for the right moment. But that's not really relevant.

Aizxana hauls her sack over her shoulder and makes her way through the main doors of the building. She is fansinated by the splendid grandour of the old country mansion. She grabs a tatty scroll out of her pocket and looks at it again. "Main hall, 8PM," she mutters. "Ok, where's that?" As she enters the building, it feels like she has entered a new world. Gone are the ivy covered walls, crumbling and faded. Inside, she feels like she has stepped into a furtuistic spaceship. "Wow," she mutters. But still, even though her name was on the scroll sent to her, Aizxana still feels like she was not meant to be her. Unlike most of the pupils at the Institute, Aizxana is fully human, with no special magical powers to speak of. However, like the leaders of her tribe before her, she is required to spend some time at the Institute in order to learn 'the Way', as her people call it. The Way of nature, of the people and beings, and of the magical aura in this world. Aizxana feels lost. Just bthen, she notices a small red headed girl. The girl sees her too and sprints up to her, "Hi, I don't know where I am. But then, I don't know where I'm meant to be, either, so they kind of cancel each other out. So... where are you going?" "Um, hi, I'm trying to find the main hall," Aizxana says. "Any idea where to go? This place seems designed to get you lost."
OOC: Ok, sorry if my description of the inside of the school is all wrong, but I haven't read enough posts yet to know what it's really like!!

((OOC: I have an idea... maybe each part of the building is different, or appears differently to people depending on their personality or mood. ...I'll PM Sam. But I thought I'd mention it! ) "You don't know this place either?" Jenny looks disappointed for a moment, then says: "No, I have absolutely no idea. My older brother was here before the fire, but would he give me any help? Would he heck. He was laughing at me and going on about labyrinthes... I think I know what he meant now..." She looks up and down the hall. "We could ask that woman over there... she looks like a teacher. Or we could strike out and hope to strike lucky."

Hmm, well, maybe if I make it back to the main entryway there will someone there to help, Skuld thought to herself. This is getting a little ridiculus.
Ahead of her two girls looked at lost as she did. It was somewhat surprising to her that the building had this many turns and loops, and it was much more confused than she was ready for. This new place offered many sorts of oppertunities that no other place could, but at that same time, revoked many freedoms. And so it is, with the consequences of choice.
"Hello, ladies," Skuld said to them. "I am one of the new teachers here, and though I may be as lost as you, at least we can be lost together?"
Laughing slightly, she turned, and continued to walk, figuring to two would follow her in their own time.

((OOC: Hello, Skuld! Elfkin from TORC here! ^_^))
Great, thinks Jenny. Even the teachers don't know their way around. This is going to be difficult.
"Come on," she says aloud to Aizxana, grinning along with Skuld. "With three of us we're bound to spot at least one landmark, even if by accident."

(OOC: Elfkin! It's me...Skuld!? XD)
"So, as this is my first time here, how long have you two been around?"
Skuld wasn't sure how to start this conversation. For a long time she had lived on her own, with no help or interaction with others. Her communication skills were adequate, but not substantial. It took a lot of her effort to focus on the task at hand, listening and understanding what was being relayed to her.
"Yeah, I just," she started, "I am brand new, and all of the interviews and tests were performed at another location, so I have never been here. I was looking over a map before I headed for the hall, but still, this place is enormous. It will take me more than an hour to get this down."
She laughed again. Man, this was going to be difficult, to say the least.

((Good Lord, it is you! I never realised! Oh... Skuld, Aizxana; Aizxana, Skuld. *introduces you both*)) "Map? We'll need a compass and a global navigation system to work this place out," Jenny grins. "This is my first time here, too, though my brother Travis was a student before the fire. I'll give you a hand finding a place where we can stop being lost... well, I'll try, anyway..." she laughs a little.

OOC: Hey, Skuld! Nice to meetcha! "Yeah, I'm new here too. She glances at thier faces - they are not sure if she is a pupil or a teacher. I'm a student," she continues. "I don't have any powers as such - I'm human - but I lead a tribe and I have to do this training programme thing. Which inclused coming here." She glances at the map. Navigation, luckily, is one of her skills. "Um, I think we turn left here," she says. "And go down this corridor. Hopefully the dining hall will be on the left somewhere."
